One ought every day at least…

(With huge kudos to Rena for this one).

What a wonderful, beautiful day!

Today was cold and rainy. A good day to stay inside and read, and read I did. Starting off with a morning perusal of my usual (non-myspace) blogs. I came across this by Goethe:

One ought every day at least,
to hear a little song,
read a good poem,
see a fine picture,
and, if it were possible,
to speak a few reasonable words.

Who am I to argue with Goethe??? Whom I adore, by the way. I totally agree with this quote and think I will make it a personal motto πŸ™‚ I’ve read lots of great poetry today. I’ve listened to some beautiful music, and looked at, and talked about, beautiful art, and spoke some reasonable words πŸ˜‰

And then in an email from Rena were some absolutely beautiful quotes from Van Gogh’s letters:

“Let’s not give in, but try to be patient and gentle. And do not mind being eccentric; keep yourself to yourself, and distinguish between good and evil for your own sake even if you do not show it outwardly.

“You have had an experience that can make you wise for a whole lifetime, do not forget it. ‘Nourris-moi du pain de mes larmes, vΓ©ritΓ© enseignez moi” [feed me on the bread of my tears, truth teach me].'”

How beautiful, how wise. And then she told me that the entire collection of his letters was online!!! And gave me the link — oops lol! I would absolutely love to see them in print, with his sketches he did in them as well, rather than on online, but beggars can’t be choosers.

Then I read the Rena’s blog which included one of my favourite Sylvia Plath poems, and a poem by Yeats who I have never read. So off to Project Gutenberg and I spent more hours there downloading more stuff.

And I do not feel guilty. Not a bit. I’m allowing myself to rest gently this week (after last week) — I haven’t even been to the gym. How nice that I have the luxury of being able to do that this week.

And to top it off I received an email and had a message “chat” with someone special who is currently in Europe on holidays.

I feel comfortable, replete, and so very peaceful and satisfied.

And just filled with love πŸ™‚ What beauty there is in the world, to see, to read, to hear, to feel. I’m overflowing with love and excitement and beauty at the moment.

These especially do I love in this moment:

Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe – who doesn’t love Poe?
Look at the melancholy in that face.

Goethe
Goethe – sensual, ironic, spiritual writing.
Mephistopheles cracks me up πŸ™‚ Try reading Erotica Romana

Anais Nin
Anais Nin – beautiful, delicate, emotional,
passionate, erotic, introspective – I adore her.

Debussy
Debussy – painting those glorious pictures on silence.

Vincent Van Gogh – troubled, gentle, misunderstood artistic genius. I saw two
amazing movies just recently. “Lust for Life” with Kirk Douglas playing Vincent.
He did an incredible portrayal. The movie used footage of the actual paintings.
And the use of colour in the movie itself accentuated it. Stunning. And Akira
Kuwosara’s Dreams – which had a segment with a person actually going into
Van Gogh’s paintings (with Scorsese playing Vincent!) – again. Gorgeous.

I haven’t abandoned my ‘stone’ πŸ™‚ I just haven’t gotten around to composing the life purpose statement thing yet. Tomorrow. And you know what? There just may be something in all the crystal “crap” after all. Yes, I ran it under the tap and gave it a rub to clean it, but the inside is way less cloudy as well – and I can only attribute that to being put on the amethyst cluster for a ‘cleansing’. Hmm. At the same time I have started working on “The Right to Write” by Julia Cameron – the exercises in there are fun. I am hoping it improves my creative writing. But if tomorrow is as deliciously rainy and grey as today was, I anticipate more voracious reading. Yummy.

  1. What a wonderful, beautiful day!

    :D!

    You’re feeding that Hungry Mind!

And your post feeds mine too. I like this.

Amazon.com has used copies of Van Gogh’s volumes … but they are enormous hardbacks. The postage for you would be a killer for sure. (I don’t believe they were ever released in entirety in paperback.)

I’m going to cleanse my stones again. I like: rain, moonlight, and sun. There be magick!

  2. Yes indeed I am! It FEEEEELS GOOOOOD!!!!!!!!

I’ve seen those – they are expensive but worth buying I’d imagine. I’d REALLY love to get D. a set.

I must go look at pictures of flourite. And Iceland πŸ™‚

There seems to be a lot of ‘cross feeding’ going around at the moment haha! Another friend’s blog today contained beautiful morsels too. And yours always feeds. I’m forever nicking quotes etc off you.

  3. Yay! It’s exciting to see you exploding online. πŸ™‚

I’d like to try photographing my fluroite stones. One has purple and green zigzags in it. The other is shaped like triangle, and it’s mostly green but the crystal inside makes it glitter.

  4. OOOOOOOOOO pretty INDEED. Now I have to have some flourite lol! I like the qualities it possesses. And pretty soooo pretty my preshus.

Talk to me!
